Children’s Scholarship Fund Baltimore Announces Expansion

Private Scholarship Opportunities for Baltimore City Children

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Children's Scholarship Fund, Baltimore, (CSF) is expanding tuition assistance for Baltimore city families whose children are entering kindergarten through 3rd grade fall 2002.

Children other than those entering kindergarten must be currently enrolled in public school.

This program is based on financial need and participants are chosen through random lottery. The lottery will take place in early March.

Applications are being accepted through March 15, 2002.

The program offers partial scholarship - based on the family's household size and income - from 25% to 75% toward tuition only up to a cap of $1825 per year. Parents/guardians are required to pay the difference.

Children receive the scholarship for four consecutive years.

Parents/guardians may apply for as many children in their household whom they declare on their 1040 tax return.

After the lottery is held and winners are announced, they (Parents) are required to:

·         Attend one meeting (date, time & place to be announced)

·         Provide financial proof of income and household size

·         Provide proof of Baltimore city residency

This is a school choice program, one that leaves the choice of school to the parent/guardian.

CSF Baltimore is not involved with school admissions. The school policy for admission dictates acceptance.
